Thank you to the waterers!
June 17, 2012
Today, the morning after a decent rain, seems like a good time to thank the people who have been keeping the garden alive during the driest June since 1988. Thank you, Libby, Sande, Beth, Olga, Kyle and Matt. You have been troopers, and the garden shows the results of your dedication and hard work. The vegetables are beautiful, instead of crispy, as they are in many fields and gardens right now.
Thank you, thank you. And by the way, Rick DiMaio says it’s going to rain again on Wednesday. (After two days of mid-to-high 90s, but what the heck . . .)

Since 1988?
Yup!
Our garden?
I’m sorry. I don’t know what you’re asking. This year is the driest year in Chicago since 1988. We have kept our garden alive.
Oh I thought you meant that our garden was alive in 1988. Sorry
I understand. No, our garden was born last year, and you were there when it happened.
I know that’s why I got confused
LinFL and restless… thank you so much for the Catalogno Parsley and Genovese Basil info!
I’ll make sure I get both varieties planted in my garden.
